Using HTML designed emails can often give your emails extra features that a simple text email would not. Knowing the capabilities of various email providers is key in this venture and this requires HTML email design testing.
Because every email provider and email software program will display the emails slightly differently from the next. And that can create a major problem for you if you are only testing in one browser and then finding that your clients are mostly using another.
Email testing when using HTML designs is fairly easy in that you can send the email to any personal email addresses available to you. Batch testing these emails will tell you how the design looks in Outlook and/or Eudora as well as other email clients.
After doing the HTML email design testing, list the various things that were different in each email provider. Make the necessary changes to the design to fix the errors found in the email testing. The design my not look exactly the same in the various clients or even different browsers, but obvious errors can be corrected. Send it out again to see if the changes are correct. Repeat until the email looks presentable.
