In the below paragraph, I will review my new favorite set of ipath shoes, the Locust. Here we go:
I’m not accustomed to spending as long breaking in skate shoes as these took, but as you’ll see later within the review it all paid off. You most likely don’t want to skate with them until you’ve broken them in, they’re somewhat stiff out from the box. It’s not necessary to put in an excessive amount work to break them in.
Wearing them around the house for a couple of days should accomplish the same goal nicely. To avoid chafing from the hi-tops of the locust, ensure that you wear full length socks too. After breaking these shoes in, they fit true. I am aware a lot of people have expressed doubt about how good these are for skating on account of their width, but in reality they look significantly wider than they feel, and they’re excellent for skating. They’re incredibly comfortable due to the extra padding allowed by the wider size. If you have trouble finding shoes that are true to size, these shoes will be a welcome relief, as they fit a lot better than anything else I’ve owned. If you’re itght on cash like me and you’re used to cheap skateboarding shoes you’ll find that these are a major step up.
Grip is often a concern for skaters, but there’s no reason to worry with the Locust – It provides the most effective grip of any skate shoes I’ve ever worn! My last pair of shoes were Vans, and the Locust blows them out of the water as far as grip can be involved. Board slippage just isn’t an issue if you’re wearing these kicks. To ensure your feet stay firmly in place, these shoes have a velcro strap as reinforcement to laces.
Taking into consideration the hell I put my shoes through,they’ve held up really well during the last month. There’s a bit of wear in the toe stitching, but I skate 4-6 hours a day seven days a week so that’s kind of expected. These are the most durable canvas shoes I’ve even heard about, let alone seen for myself. That said, leather typically lasts longer and deals better with wear.
Made of environmentally conscious materials such as organic cotton and hemp, these kicks also show their support for the green movement with a hidden stash pocket. Among the additional features of the shoe are a customizable ankle strap, foam padded lining, leather upper, and a high quality detachable CHT insole.
Lastly, the shoes feature an impact-reducing gel system in the heel to absorb the shock from hard landings.
